Transfers, refunds and cancellations
If you have purchased an Oxford Test of English Advanced from MTS that takes place in more than two weeks' time, you have a 14 day period from the date of payment within which you can change your test date for free, or cancel your assessment and receive a full refund.

You must bring a current, valid, government-issued form of photo ID. You should bring your username and password for the test. You can bring a clear plastic bottle of water. Mobile phones and other electronic devices are not permitted during the test.
What proof of identification can I use for OTE?
We accept these photo IDs:

- Driving License
What if I need special arrangements for my test?
The Oxford Test of English provides a range of help options for test takers with reasonable adjustments related to visual difficulties, hearing difficulties, learning difficulties or access needs.
The following reasonable adjustments must be requested using the Reasonable Adjustments Request Form, along with any supporting evidence, at least 6 weeks before the test date:
- Extra time
- Rest breaks between modules
- Individual test session
- Physical testing environment
- Access to the test room
- Assistive role: Scribe
- Assistive role: Practical assistant
The following reasonable adjustments do not need to be requested in advance. These adjustments can be made in the test platform and in the online demo:
- Display option: enlarged text
- Display option: low contrast (pastel)
- Display option: high contrast
- Reading support device
- Hand-held text magnifier
Supporting evidence does not need to be translated to English.

What if I am late for the test or can't make it because of an emergency?
If you are unable to attend or arrive late due to unforeseen or urgent circumstances, these may be considered under special considerations for rescheduling. You must contact us on exams@mtsglobal.uk.com as soon as possible with evidence of the emergency (e.g. police report). We may be able to offer a refund or rebook your test.
How do I send a copy of my Result Certificate to an institution?
After completing all four modules, you'll receive a Certificate of Proficiency endorsed by the University of Oxford. If an institution needs verification, they should use the OUP online verification portal and if they need extra help they can email otesupport@oup.com.
When and how do I get my OTE test results?
Oxford Test of English Advanced results are typically received within 5 working days. You can sign in to your OTE account to see your results and print out your certificate.

Oxford Test of English Advanced has four modules, so in this case you will receive a Certificate of Proficiency certified by the University of Oxford.
The certificate includes:
- A CEFR level for each module
- A standardised score for each module
- An overall CEFR level
- An overall standardised score (the standardised score is the average of the scores for the four modules)
How do I make a complaint about the service provided by MTS (the test centre)?
For issues relating to test booking or MTS's administration of your OTE test, you should email MTS at exams@mtsglobal.uk.com with full information and detail about your complaint.
If unsatisfied with our response, escalate the complaint to Oxford University Press by emailing otesupport@oup.com.
Can I resit my OTE test if I didn't get the score I needed?
Yes, you can retake the Oxford Test of English in full or take individual modules.
There are some restrictions. You can take the full test or modules a maximum of two times in any 8-week period, and a maximum of four times in any 12-month period.
Can I get my OTE test re marked?
If you are unhappy with the result you receive, you may request a results check, by emailing ote@mtsglobal.uk.com and paying the results check fee of £100.
For Speaking and Writing modules, a results review consists of a remark of the test module. If the remark results in an upward CEFR level change for the module or overall result, the remark fee is refunded to the test taker. A remark will not result in being awarded a lower score than that achieved in the original test. For Reading and Listening modules, which are computer marked, a results review consists of a results check.
What can I take into the test room?
Electronic devices such as mobile phones, voice recorders, MP3 players, and cameras are not permitted inside the test room. These must be handed in to the invigilator before you enter. Neither MTS nor OUP are responsible for loss or damage to candidates' possessions.
You must bring your photo ID, and you can bring a clear plastic bottle of water.
How long is the exam overall?
The test takes approximately two hours and 15 minutes in total, comprising four modules.
Do OTE certificates expire?
OTE certificates do not expire; once issued, they remain valid indefinitely. However, some institutions may prefer more recent results (usually a result given within two years) and might ask you to retake the test.
Which UK universities accept the Oxford Test of English (Advanced)?
International students can now apply to 45 UK universities using their OTE (Advanced) results including: UCL, Brunel University London, City, University of London, Goldsmiths, University of Oxford, University of Brighton, York St John University, Cardiff University, and Heriot-Watt University.
