The Vietnamese story continues: MTS’s IELTS and Aptis business expansion into Vietnam

Following an initial successful business trip to Vietnam in May 2023, MTS’s Head of Operations Ivo Vicente and Business Growth Manager Korina Freese both spent the latter part of October 2023 meeting our key partners and friends in Vietnam, including the British Council team in Hanoi.

Following an initial successful business trip to Vietnam in May 2023, MTS’s Head of Operations Ivo Vicente and Business Growth Manager Korina Freese both spent the latter part of October 2023 meeting our key partners and friends in Vietnam, including the British Council team in Hanoi.

Ivo and Korina were pleased to finally meet, in person, Mr Ha Nguyen, our business partner, to continue to refine MTS’s premium IELTS Mock Tests due to be launched in early 2024.

MTS then participated in an Aptis ESOL workshop for teachers at the British Council Hanoi. The workshop was very well attended and demonstrative of the maturity of the Aptis ESOL test in Vietnam.

The following day, MTS met Ruby Nguyen from IELTS Gen Z Hanoi, an English language school that provides IELTS preparation courses for children and adults in Hanoi. She is also President of The English Teachers’ Association in Vietnam. Ruby works with MTS’s existing Vietnamese sales agent Gem Nguyen, CEO of HEW London. Ruby and Gem will be promoting MTS’s Trinity-accredited CertPT Online IELTS Teacher Training Course to be launched in Vietnam in the spring of 2024.

On Friday 27 October 2023, MTS participated in the New Directions Vietnam conference organised by the British Council. It is a meeting of academics, government officials and teachers from South East Asia to exchange ideas and best practice for English language teaching and assessment from nursery to university. The event was opened by Dr Quynh Nguyen, from the University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University (ULIS-VNU) and is also Head of Training Programmes at VTED. Dr Quynh gave a fascinating talk on ‘Yin & Yang in English education and assessment: A holistic view’. MTS is cooperating with VTED on a number of initiatives to support the needs of the Vietnam English testing and exams market.

The New Directions conference continued on the following Saturday and Sunday at the British University Vietnam, which has a stunning new campus in East Hanoi, including a gala dinner in central Hanoi on Saturday evening.

To register early interest in MTS’s CertPT Online IELTS Teacher Training Course (available globally and not just in Vietnam) please get in touch at info@mtsglobal.uk.com.
