The mid-year feel-good factor: MTS’s IELTS business expansion into Vietnam

Today is Tet Doan Ngo, the mid-year festival in Vietnam, celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, and a perfect opportunity for this blog post about MTS’s recent IELTS English language teaching events and business development activity in Vietnam.

At MTS, we believe that global connections play a pivotal role in English language education, and we know the added value that native English speaking teachers can have in thriving English language teaching markets like Vietnam. That's why we sent three of MTS’s native English-speaking teachers to Vietnam in May 2023 to deliver a series of face-to-face IELTS teacher training courses in three vibrant cities in Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Nha Trang.

Empowering Vietnamese English teachers with cutting-edge IELTS courses

Our primary objective in Vietnam was to equip a select group of IELTS Teachers in the three Vietnamese cities with the skills and knowledge to create dynamic IELTS learning experiences in their own classrooms. We ran a series of engaging courses that covered a wide range of topics, including "How to Bring an IELTS Classroom to Life" and "Providing Effective Feedback for IELTS Speaking and Writing tasks" as well as exploring innovative uses of ChatGPT to help design lessons. Another session helped by giving IELTS Teachers effective techniques for teaching young learners aiming to take the IELTS test.

Introducing MTS’s IELTS Teaching Diploma Course

During our visit to Vietnam, we were thrilled to unveil our newest offering, a fully-accredited CertPT IELTS Teacher Training Course at level 6. This programme will provide existing IELTS Teachers with an additional qualification to evidence their teaching abilities and allow them to learn new skills alongside other advanced IELTS teachers. We are working with a London-based accreditation body and we will be launching our Level 6 CertPT in the coming months.

Celebrating success: IELTS Online Teacher Training course graduation ceremonies

One of the highlights of our trip was the graduation ceremonies for MTS’s existing ALAP-accredited Online IELTS Teacher Trainer Course, conducted in collaboration with our esteemed partner in Vietnam, HEW Online. This event was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the participants, who completed the rigorous program to become certified IELTS teacher trainers. We are proud to have played a part in nurturing their teaching abilities and empowering them to inspire the next generation of IELTS teachers.

IELTS Mock Tests

Finally, Mr. Michal Mazanek, MTS’s CEO, had the privilege of participating in a signing ceremony with Mr. Ha Nguyen, Director of PTE Leader Asia, a leading English language organisation in Vietnam, which formally sealed a partnership between MTS and PTE Leader Asia. The partnership will see IELTS Mock Tests made available across Vietnam by the end of 2023. The signing ceremony was also attended by representatives from Vietnam’s Ministry of Education.
