United nations: MTS welcomes a truly global intake of IELTS test takers in 2023

The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam is globally recognised as a benchmark for English language ability, an exam that has become essential for higher education, global migration, and professional opportunities.
And in an extraordinary display of international diversity, we have welcomed IELTS test takers coming from a staggering 162 different nationalities in 2023. This year marks our most diverse group of test takers ever!
Standing out in the crowd and taking the top spot, Nigerians made up MTS’s largest nationality of IELTS test takers, with 17% of our candidates coming from this large African nation. Completing the top 4 spots are: Chinese test takers coming next at 16%, then British at 12% and Indians at 10%. And remember these aren’t just statistics; each and every one or our IELTS test takers represents the aspirations and efforts of thousands of people aiming to broaden their academic and professional horizons as they seek to study or work in the UK and elsewhere.
The 162 nationalities in the MTS IELTS intake for 2023 represents something of a “miniature United Nations”, where individuals from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds come together, united by their common goal of mastering the English language.
And with the end of 2023 now clearly in sight (we are all looking forward to celebrating 2023 and the start of the new year!)
