Every day, Social Workers support millions of people in the UK to improve their chances in life. MTS is proud to play its part in supporting people to live their best lives through helping people to access the social care employment sector.

MTS is the biggest and best network of IELTS (English language) test venues in the UK.

Anyone seeking to work in Social Care needs to show that their English is of a suitable standard before getting a job. This means that they need to be able to speak and write in English, understand people when they speak in English, and understand documents written in English.

If you are from a country where English is not widely used, you may need to take an IELTS test to prove your level of English. According to Social Work England, the regulatory body overseeing standards in social care in England, says that people may need an IELTS test, and that their IELTS test:

  1. Is the IELTS Academic version of the test

  2. Has an IELTS Academic overall band score of at least 7.0

  3. Was completed within the last 5 years.

Social Work England has equivalents in the devolved nations in the UK (Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)Social Care Wales (SCW) and the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC); these bodies set similar requirements to Social Work England.

MTS ran IELTS tests for over 100 Social Workers seeking to work in the UK’s social care sector in 2022, and we look forward to welcoming hundreds more in 2023. Please visit our IELTS booking pages for where in the UK you can take your IELTS test with us!
