We’re thrilled to announce that MTS has officially become an Approved Test Centre for the Oxford Test of English (OTE) - a globally recognised English language exam developed by the University of Oxford and certified by Oxford University Press.

This is more than just a new exam on our roster; it’s a strategic move that puts MTS at the forefront of international university entrance testing in the UK, with a specific focus on the Oxford Test of English (Advanced) level test.

Whether you're an international student aiming for a UK degree, or an education advisor seeking flexible, accessible testing solutions, MTS is now your trusted partner for OTE delivery in the UK.

What is the Oxford Test of English?

The Oxford Test of English is a modern, flexible English proficiency test aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). It tests Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing, and is:

  1. A computer based, adaptive test, taken in a test centre

  2. The OTE (Advanced) version now tests at B2 and C1 (Advanced) level, making it ideal for university admissions

  3. Designed and certified by Oxford University Press

  4. Trusted by 950 institutions in over 40 countries

  5. Accepted by a growing number of UK universities (45 at the time of this article, and 51 as of November 2025)

  6. Accepted by four of the top 20 mainstream universities in the UK with the most undergraduate international students

Why the OTE (Advanced) matters for UK university admissions

The OTE (Advanced) is increasingly accepted by UK universities as a reliable, secure proof of English proficiency for academic entry.

Over 950 organisations worldwide now recognise the Oxford Test of English, including 51 leading UK universities that accept the OTE (Advanced) as a valid entrance test for international applicants.

The OTE (Advanced) test costs £150 to sit at all of MTS’s test centres, it takes around 2 hours and 15 minutes, and the Speaking test is done at the computer. Results are available in 5 working days, and OUP offers free preparation materials on its website.
