We are delighted to announce that MTS has been selected as a finalist in the London Chamber of Commerce’s SME (Small & Medium-sized Enterprises) London Business Awards 2025. MTS has been selected as a finalist in the category “Employer of the Year” and MTS’s CEO Michal Mazanek has been selected as a finalist for “Businessperson of the Year” in recognition of his significant achievements as a charismatic and dynamic CEO and founder of MTS, leading phenomenal growth and success of the company in its first 10 years.
In 2014, MTS started out with just six full-time employees, one exam product, and four exam venues, and now MTS has matured into a multi-million-pound global business, employing 40 full-time office-based staff and 500 exam day staff, delivering over 100,000 exams every year across more than 25 venues. Speaking from MTS’s head office, proudly located in West London, Michal Mazanek said: “I have always had a strong entrepreneurial drive, and had always dreamt of owning my own business. I am proud to have led MTS’s growth to become a trusted examinations services company, working with all the major global exam partners, empowering students and professionals to achieve their academic, professional, and immigration goals. I am delighted to have so many talented people working with me to provide the best service in the business.”
Significant achievements that MTS has made in 2024 that influenced the London Chamber of Commerce judging panel to select MTS for “Employer of the Year” include growing our internal talent, creating new positions to strengthen and professionalise our Senior Management and Leadership teams, moving MTS forward in terms of leadership excellence, organisational resilience, and implementation of our business strategy.
We introduced new HR policies on recruitment, onboarding, health and safety, mental well-being, absence management, and performance systems to enhance engagement, fairness, and inclusivity. Also new to 2024 included regular structured staff meetings, KPIs dashboards, improved job descriptions, and a new company newsletter called “MTS Connect” which keeps employees at MTS informed of what’s going on in the company.
During the cost of living crisis in the UK in 2023, MTS recognised a need to ensure our salary levels for head office staff and our pay rates for our casual workers shifted in line with inflation, with higher increases (10%) for the lowest-paid staff and lower percentage increases for the highest-paid staff put in place from January 2024. A new private healthcare scheme for MTS’s head office staff was introduced in 2024, and flexible working is embraced at MTS as an important part of our working culture. A new MTS Staff Engagement Committee was also set up in 2024 with activity ongoing to promote welfare, health and wellbeing, celebrating our staff, celebrating successes, and supporting our equality, diversity and inclusion aims.
By investing in employees, we’ve cultivated strong performers who are external advocates for MTS, strengthening our industry position in the exams sector and driving growth of MTS into the future.
We now look forward to finding out if we have achieved ‘Gold’ or ‘Silver’ in these award categories at the London Chamber of Commerce’s Business Awards Grand Final ceremony, held on 27 February 2025 at the prestigious Leonardo Royal Hotel London Tower Bridge.
