IELTS just got better with IELTS One Skill Retake
Matthew Steele

IELTS One Skill Retake has launched in the UK and Ireland, letting test takers retake a single IELTS skill instead of sitting the full test again.
IELTS One Skill Retake is a new feature designed to help you get your desired IELTS test score without retaking the full IELTS test and has, from today, been launched in the UK and Ireland.
If you want to improve your score on one test skill, with IELTS One Skill Retake you can retake any of the four IELTS skills – Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking. And if you perform better on the retake, this new score can get added to your previous IELTS results form, and you may end up with a better overall IELTS band score.
If you choose IELTS One Skill Retake, you will receive a second IELTS Test Report Form with your IELTS One Skill Retake score, the scores from your original test and an overall CEFR score. And the great thing is that you can choose whether you would like to use your old or new IELTS Test Report Form for the skill you retook.
IELTS One Skill Retake is available to test takers who have completed a full IELTS on Computer test and must be booked within 60 days of the original IELTS test being taken, and can only be taken at the same IELTS test centre that you took your original IELTS test.
Once you have taken a full IELTS test, and you get your results on the British Council’s Test Taker Portal, you can go to the section that says “Didn’t get the score you needed?”, then click ‘See my options’ and you can select either ‘Remark my test’ (this is also known as an IELTS Enquiry on Results) or ‘Retake a part of your test’ (IELTS One Skill Retake). With One Skill Retake, you can retake just one skill and add that result to your previous IELTS test.
But beware! At the moment, not all institutions accept an IELTS overall score that has been modified by a One Skill Retake, so make sure you check your institution accepts One Skill Retake before booking it.
At MTS we offer both the IELTS Enquiry on Results service (where your original IELTS tests is remarked by a different examiner and may result in a better score) as well as the new IELTS One Skill Retake service.
You can also request both an IELTS Enquiry on Results as well as book an IELTS One Skill Retake concurrently. And you can even do an IELTS Enquiry on Results request on a completed IELTS One Skill Retake result!
You can find out more about IELTS One Skill Retake at the British Council's website which also has some informative short videos explaining how it all works.
MTS welcomes our very first IELTS One Skill Retake customers in the UK and Ireland!
